Been busy doing… May22-#100happydays-day 43

Well, I realize I’ve been missing a few days here and there, and lately not having a lot to write about.

But today makes up for lost time! Many things made me happy today, including the amazing sunshine!

I spent the afternoon digging and weeding the garden, but it still looks messy. Oh well, some more manure, a bit of water, and I’ll get the seeds in soon.

We had a Dr. appointment for my little guy this afternoon, found out we need an ortho consult. Since he started walking, he seems to drag his right foot sideways a little. Hoping and praying it’s nothing serious.

We then had some playtime with both boys over at grandma and grandpas, and had fun swimming in the backyard.

A beautiful evening has been spent outside. Beginning with grilling some Tuna to a perfect medium rare, along with peppers and zucchini. Some wine, and eating on the patio. Ahh, summer, I think you’re here!

Now, kids in bed, husband working on our basement renos, and I’m sipping another glass of red on the patio.

Also enjoying a few moments with my faithful beagle. We prepare to say goodbye to him soon, as I think his illness is getting worse. But seeing him roll around definitely makes me happy.

Getting ID’d!! May 14-#100happydays-day 35

stopped quickly after work to grab some goodies at the local LB ( liquor board store). The kind gentleman working politely asked for ID. I got my wallet and said “sorry, did you actually ask for this or am I imagining things?”

Well, feel pretty good to be possibly taken for under 25!!

April 14- #100 happy days

Crawling into bed with a good book and a glass of wine.  At 8:41 pm.  Hanging out by myself while my husband is playing hockey. Blissful!

Some people may find this to be rather sad actually. But to me it’s great. It’s been a hectic couple of weeks back at work. Today was even a short day, and all I did was data entry into a computer. But I’m so tired. Goodnight.

Summerhill Pinot Gris 2012

We tried this bottle of white last night. Not with a meal, just throughout the evening. I usually “sip” white wine in the summer, and stick to red in winter, but we felt like something different.

It was very good! And excellent on its own. I expected it to be a bit lighter, but was happy overall. Here’s my not so professional review.

Colour: light gold

Nose: fruity, but smooth, slight lemon.

Taste:  I found it to be almost creamy/buttery at first. Rich peach and pear. Stephen thought mostly fruity taste, slight sweetness.

Aftertaste:  we both agreed on a bit of tartness, some lemon flavours.

4/5 overall

The bottle quotes “Notes of white peach, pear, permisson and Meyer lemon.”

I believe we bought this wine on a trip through Alberta, so I’m not definite on the cost, but I’m guessing 20-25$. I would drink it again. Would be lovely on a warm afternoon in the deck.

Back in 2009, we visited the Summerhill winery in Kelowna,BC. It wasn’t my favourite actually. It was large and impersonal, and I wasn’t too sure what to make of the pyramid on the grounds. I can’t remember what we tasted while there.

Easy Peasy Chunky Spaghetti

I do love cooking. When I have time. Ah, I miss the days before children, when we had all the time in the world to find ingredients, make a sauce, eat whenever we pleased.
So now, if the afternoon gets away from me, I find something quick.
Pasta is always my go-to in a pinch.

I call this Chunky Spaghetti.

  • Cooked spaghetti (4 servings)
  • 500gm ground pork (or beef)
  • 1 can whole tomatoes
  • 1 chopped zucchini

lots of oregano, basil, salt, pepper And a bit of garlic and sugar

cook the ground meat thoroughly, put everything else in the pan and let it summer while the water boils and the pasta cooks.

I enjoyed with some wine. Not the whole box. image

Enjoying wine: AKA “the only juicing diet I will partake in”

Being new to the whole blogging thing, I’ve just started browsing topics I enjoy. I’ve been reading a lot of blogs that mention wine.
I’m feeling like this is a very important topic in my life.

I love wine!

Red and white.
I love the movie sideways.
A few years back, my husband and I went on a wine tour in Kelowna , B.C.
It was wonderful to just sip wine, and trek through the vineyards.

We had so much fun, it was before we were even engaged! We brought home a lot of wine with us!!
One of my favourite vineyards was Rollingdale.
It was small and intimate and had an amazing Ice Wine.
I hope to make it back some day.

I’m Morgan. This is my new hobby. Recently I found my old journal/diary. It was written from 1992-2004.  All through high school and university.Hard to believe I was ever that young, naive, and excited to write down all my experiences! I was angry, happy, full of dreams. Boy crazy. Im hoping to find that excitement and joy in journaling again. Most often, these posts will be a quick thought while enjoying a cup of coffee or glass of wine.  If you are reading this: thanks! Id love to hear your thoughts as well. I’m going to try and write something everyday. Even if it’s just a quick quote or rant. Maybe a recipe here and there.
